You Will Need

  • 1 Ada Roombox kit
    • Buy the Bundle Kit and save on flooring and shiplap kit!
  • Wood glue
  • Heavy boxes for propping pieces together while drying (optional if you have clamps)
  • Clamps (optional)
  • Painters tape (options, for dry-fitting pieces before assembly)
  • Damp cloth (optional, for wiping off excess wood glue)

Kit Contains

4 x 8″ long by 8″ high x .125″ thick MDF pieces
– Ceiling, floor, side wall x2

1 x 7.75″ long by 8″ high x .125″ thick MDF piece
– Back wall

Steps

  1. Pull all the pieces out of your box. Make sure your kit has 4 identical 8″x8″ pieces and 1 7.75″x8″ piece.
  2. (optional) Do a dry-run assembly of your roombox by putting the pieces together lightly with painter’s tape. This can give you a better idea of how they fit together and help you avoid mistakes down the road.
  3. Make a plan for the decoration of your roombox. Will you be painting or wallpapering the walls? If so, it might be easier to do that before assembly. Will you be finishing the floor? Decide the order of operations.
    1. If you purchased a flooring add-on for your roombox, this can go in after the room is finished, on top of the existing floor. Make sure that any baseboards you add aren’t glued on until after the flooring.
    2. If you purchased the accompanying shiplap kit, this should be glued on the back wall after the roombox has been assembled.
  4. To start assembling, decide which 8″x8″ piece is going to be your floor. Then take another 8″x8″ piece for a sidewall. Glue this sidewall piece on top of the floor. To hold it in place, use a 90° clamp or pin it against small heavy boxes. Use a damp cloth to wipe off any excess wood glue for a perfect finish. Let dry.
  5. Take another 8″x8″ piece for the other sidewall. Glue on top of the floor opposite the other side wall using the same method as step 4. Let dry. You now have a U-shaped structure.
  6. Find your 7.75″x8″ back wall piece. Glue it between the 2 sidewalls, on top of the floor. It should be the same height as the other walls. Glue the corners liberally. Let dry.
  7. Finally, glue the final piece on top, as the ceiling. This step is optional if you want an open-air kit!
